1SG Hensley Reports on the Color Guard
Our Fishburne Color Guard took on the task of learning all commands to include uncasing and casing the colors with only a two day notice! They earned first place among ten other schools from West Virginia. Commander Colin Green took on the memorizing of 43 commands, while the others perfected their movements to include uncasing and casing the colors. They received many great comments from other cadets and many adults that were attending this drill meet. They all seemed impressed with not only their appearance and conduct, but also the sharpness of their movements. They represented Fishburne extremely well. Again, congratulations to: Cadet Green (Commander) Cadet Lawrence (Right Guard) Cadet Pinner (Virginia Flag) Cadet Clark. (Left Guard). This was Clark’s first drill meet.

The Caissons certainly earned respect as each team made significant improvements over the second half of their respective seasons, even though key injuries and untimely illnesses presented formidable challenges for the coaching staffs. An obvious highlight was the reopening of the pool and two home swim meets versus rival Massanutten Military Academy.

The FMS Air Rifle team defeated two much larger public schools this week! Our team traveled to close-by Harrisonburg High School, and also crossed the West Virginia state line to participate in a match against Greenbrier East High. In the first match “Top’s Guns” just nipped the Greenbrier East shooters with a score of 824-788. The next day, our shooters easily handled the Harrisonburg shooters with a score of 833-530. Leading the team in points during both events was Cadet Denver Lawrence who shot a scorching 228 for his average. The other three shooters: Santiago Quiceno, Colin Green and Avery Vinson also did a tremendous job. All three improved their scores in the second match and are working hard to get better. 1Sgt. Jim “Top” Hensley (Coach) said, “They all did a great job training for the common goal of improvement.”
