Veterans Day ceremony at Fishburne Military School

By Andrew Simons

On Veterans Day the cadets at Fishburne Military School paid special tribute to the fallen veterans of the nation’s conflicts and wars.

The cadets drilled for many hours and practiced long and hard for this short ceremony to make it immaculate. The cadets fired a ceremonial three-shot volley into the air similar to that of the military customs.  Three rifles with helmets were placed in the ground symbolizing the cadets that had graduated from Fishburne and fallen in combat.

The names of all fallen cadets were read out. Then followed the poems “A Soldier’s Tale” and “Flanders Field” read by Cadet 1st Lts. Nolan O’Conner and Benjamin Lalor,

The guest speaker, Brig. Gen. Phillips, gave a commemorating speech to the Corps of Cadets.

This event was to support and remember all troops deceased, veterans and active duty, a happy Veterans Day.
