Soccer at Eastern Mennonite
Fishburne Varsity Soccer (2-4-0) traveled to Harrisonburg on Thursday, September 21st, to play Eastern Mennonite. The pitch was soft, and the day warm and breezy. Five cadets were benched unable to play. In the 8th minute, team captain Dylan Vaughan rolled his ankle and would not field again. The opponents struck in the 16th, 17th, 20th, and 38th minutes of the first half. Midfielder Darian Belisle dutifully blocked what would have been a long kick with his head in the 38th, causing him to sub out–he chose to muster on to the field again in the second half after being cleared by the trainer. Keeper Derek Prestes started and saved twelve nets before subbing with Connor Greene in the 28th, who would save five more himself in the half. The squad altogether finished the first with 22 steals. The second half saw the opponent strike in the 44th, 49th, 50th, 58th, and 60th. The sole shot from the Caissons was by Midfielder Austin Lee. Keeper Connor Greene saved an additional seven, and the team had twelve more steals to end the second. Fishburne Soccer travels to Martinsville on Monday, September 25th to play Carlisle at 5:00pm.
