Soccer at Northcross

Fishburne Varsity Soccer (2-3-0) traveled to Roanoke yesterday, Monday, September 18th to play North Cross. The pitch was dry, and the weather clear and comfortable with intermittent sprinkles. The opponents struck in the 2nd, 8th, and 11th minutes of the first half. They also had two successful penalty kicks in the 7th and 39th. Forward Hamed Al Hinai made our sole response with a midfield breakaway in the 35th, thanks to an assist from Midfielder Austin Lee, that led to a successful vis-a-vis with the opposing goalie. Fishburne Goalie Derek Prestes saved eight in the first; while the squad had one corner, three shots, and sixteen steals. The opposition held their own by adding a net in the 62nd. Goalie Derek Prestes, having saved one, subbed with Connor Greene in the 68th, who would save another. The Caissons added two corners, two shots, and twenty-nine steals in the second. Fishburne travels to Harrisonburg on Thursday to play Eastern Mennonite at 4:30pm.
