Six down, eight to go. That’s Fishburne Military School postgrad basketball coach Ed Huckaby’s mission after National Signing Day, which saw six Caissons sign National Letters of Intent.

Jabari Craig (Southern Cal) and Tre’ Harris (Kansas State) had already announced their commitments last month. Craig and Harris signed their NLIs on Wednesday, and were joined by teammates Jordan Tyson (St. Bonaventure), Lamell Washington (Maryland-Baltimore County) and Chris Wray and Mo Sallah (Mount St. Mary’s).

“This is the most exciting day every year for me because these guys have an opportunity for their careers to get started,” said Huckaby, the fifth-year coach at FMS. “I told them before the signing, This is the first day of the rest of your life. Don’t blow it. This is the opportunity of a lifetime. Your college education is going to carry you places that you never thought you’d be able to go to.”

Fishburne Superintendent Gary Morrison was on hand for the big event, along with parents and other family members from the young men making their college commitments official.

“This is a really, really big day. This is the reason the young men in our PG program are here, and that’s to further their careers beyond high school, to live that dream that most athletes have, but so few get to live,” Morrison said.

“They’re an example to all of us, but especially to our underclassmen, that it’s one thing to dream, and it’s another thing to be prepared to make the sacrifices that you need to make in order to reach your dreams,” Morrison said.
