Recap by Doug Payne ’84

It was a great spring day on Saturday for our Richmond FMS alumni social. We had 10 alumni in attendance, plus Bud Oakey, an AMA and Riverside alumnus, along with spouses and significant others. All total, we had 30 attendees including alumni representing a wide range of class years, beginning with George Field ’45 of Bon Air (celebrating his 70th class reunion this year), to alumni from the mid 2000s (including rifle team coach, Jay Spruill ’06). It was also interesting to see so many young children of alumni. Co-hosts, Erik Baines ’98, Sam Knight ’00 and John Jureidini ’83 did a great job of spreading the word and building a crowd.
If you are interested in hosting an Alumni Social, contact Debbie Todd (dtodd@fishburne.org) and FMS can help you make contact with other alumni in your area. Help keep the Fishburne brotherhood strong while having a great time with great folks.
Support Fishburne – throw a party!
Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. Boasting a 100% college-acceptance rate for the past 10 consecutive years, FMS has also been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academics. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
