Raiders “B” Team Wins Harrisonburg Invitational

The Fishburne Military School Raiders wake up call was at 0445 hours Saturday, they traveled to Harrisonburg to compete at the second raider meet of the year. The schools competing against FMS were Harrisonburg, Carroll County, Orange County, Buckingham, and Massanutten. FMS was unable to take the “A” team because many of the team members were taking the SAT. Fishburne “B” and “C” teams had to compete against the other school’s “A” teams. That really demonstrates the depth of this year’s Raider teams. 

The raider meet started @0900 with a PT test in which “B ” team finished second and “C” finished third. The PT event was followed by five round-robin events; one rope bridge, litter carry, logistics relay, rock wall, and orienteering.

Then @1600 the final event was a rugged and hilly 5K road march. The teams are placed in order based on the team PT score with the best PT teams placed in reverse order with each team being started in one minute intervals. The “B” team passed every team in front of them.

The meet cumulated with a spirited tug of war competition in which FMS defeated MMA in record time.  “B” team led by First Sergeant Zachary McIntyre were presented streamers for winning three events; one rope bridge, logistics relay, and orienteering. They placed second in PT, litter carry, rock wall, and 5K events.  

The final announcement was that Fishburne “B” team was the 2013 Harrisonburg Invitational Raider Overall Meet Champion!! I also would like to congratulate the “C” team as it was their first raider meet and they worked hard and were competitive against the other school “A” teams. Roll on Caissons, Roll on!
