Preparation for the Next Level
Fishburne is excited to announce that our first ever Post-Graduate (PG) Basketball program will begin during the upcoming Fall Semester. Under Head Coach Ed Huckaby and Assistant Coach Eric Brown, the Caissons will begin season preparations in September, and Coaches Huckaby and Brown will start team practices on Monday, September 14th. The upcoming 2009-2010 basketball season game schedule will be made available on the FMS Web site on September 15th.
Thirteen recruits have confirmed their intentions to play twenty-five games for the Caissons during our inaugural season. High School basketball standouts from the Mid-Atlantic, South Carolina, and Illinois will play alongside international athletes who will all make their way to Waynesboro during the coming weeks. The Caissons will compete against some of the best PG programs on the East Coast including regional Fishburne rivals Hargrave Military School, Fork Union, and Massanutten Military School. The PG team will also participate in the 2010 National Prep Tournament in February.
Under Coach Huckaby the Caissons will focus on developing the physical and academic discipline required for future participation on a Division I College Basketball team. Huckaby’s philosphy of “Total Player Development” stems from eleven years of coaching at the collegiate level. His coaching expertise has helped over fifty college athletes, including four future NBA players, reach the professional level. Coach Huckaby has also been a regular talent evaluator for ESPN U.
