DSC_0036Two hundred twenty-two holiday wishes are on their way to members of the Armed Services who are on active duty this Christmas. Being away from loved ones is never easy, but it is especially difficult at this time of year. Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas and Kwanzaa are upon us, and thousands of men and women are serving our country away from those who love them.

Members of the Fishburne Military School National Honor Society/National Junior Honor Society and Key Club conducted a joint meeting on Monday, November 18 in the Hobby-Hudgins Hall Library. Following the taking of yearbook photos and a brief Key Club meeting, these 40 cadets wrote greetings on the cards, signing them from a Fishburne Military SchoolDSC_0037 Cadet. Many personal notes were added to the cards. Cookies and cider were provided by the Advisors for the two groups—Mrs. Leslie Bryan Ingersoll for NHS/NJHS and Mrs. Debbie Todd for Key Club.

The unseen participants in this annual project were the parents, faculty and staff members who contributed cards or funds to purchase cards and provide postage. In fact, so many cards were donated, they could not all be signed. They will be held over for our 2014 campaign. As ever, the FMS family came together to extend our holiday wishes to the nation’s bravest.
