Baseball Celebrates Stellar Season
Waynesboro, VA — The Fishburne Military School (VA) Baseball team gathered last night to commemorate a memorable and successful season. The team was still alive and in action in the VIC Tournament when Fishburne Athletics held the school’s Spring Athletics Awards. Caissons baseball took the opportunity last night to treat the team to a dinner out and to announce team awards for the season.
The 2015 Caissons, led by Coaches Rich Chiarolanzio and Brandon Mawyer, had a great deal to celebrate. They gave the school one of the best seasons in recent memory in all of Caissons Athletics, finishing the season 10-4 in what is arguably the best conference in the state. In fact, 5 of the top 6 teams in the VIC made it onto the state tournament brackets. In Division 1, LCA is the #1 seed (2 of the Caissons’ 4 losses were to LCA). In Division 2 (Fishburne’s division), Miller School (1-0 vs. the Caissons) is the top seed with Covenant (1-1 vs. the Caissons) as the 5 seed, and Hargrave (0-1 vs. Fishburne) is the 7 seed. North Cross (0-1 vs. the Caissons) has the #3 spot on the Division 3 bracket.
The Caissons VIC tournament ended this year at the hands of Division 1 powerhouse Liberty Christian Academy 10-0 in Lynchburg. LCA is currently the #1 ranked team in D1, they are also the defending VIC and VISAA Champions.
Earning honors for the season were:
Defensive MVP: Treavor Norman (Waynesboro, VA)
Offensive MVP: Calen Owens (Fisherrsville, VA)
Coaches award: Thomas Fosdick (Staunton, VA)
Hustle award: Jakob Harrison (Boulder, CO)
Iron Caisson award: Qua’sean Napier (Waynesboro, VA)
Congratulations to the entire team for an outstanding season!
