JROTC Performance at Ft. Lee Field House
Fishburne Military School Color Guard and Drill Teams performed on 23 Oct at Fort Lee Field House. There were around 20 teams participating. FMS cadets performed very well bringing three trophies back. The highlight of the meet was the exhibition team bringing back a First Place Trophy in Demilitarized Armed Exhibition Drill category. The team created an entire new squad routine which included numerous tosses, individual solos and a the ladder move in which the commander does his report out stepping up and down on human ladder and using the rifles as steps. Also Cadet Barton (Commander) threw a quad toss high in the air and Cadet Dobson high-speed one and tow hand spin awed the crowd.
We had some issues with how the meet was conducted. The OIC of the event rotated judges on certain events making the judging unbalanced as it is a subjective evaluation. It impacted the Color Guard event as it was clear they were in the top two of all the color guards and the armed regulation platoon led by C1LT Przyblski had a superior performance and in our judgement was clearly in the top three.
The unarmed squad lead by Cadet PSG Mousley took second place with a precise and flawless routine.
C/1LT Cleveland lead the academic team (which was a mandatory event for all teams) received a third place trophy.
Special thanks to Barton’s grandparents Mr and Mrs. Jim Dumville, Vinson’s parents for attending the meet cheering on all the color guard and drill teams.
The Color Guard and Drill Teams comported themselves very well during the entire meet. We are proud how the performed and conducted themselves en route, during the meet and on the return to FMS.
Please congratulate them when you see them on class and on campus.
