Great win by the JV Hoops Team

FMS JV 41 EMHS 22

Fishburne’s JV team defeated Eastern Minnonite 51-37 on December 9th but the outcome did not count as a conference win. They would have to wait almost two months for a game against EMHS that would count and the JV Caissons took full advantage of the situation. Fishburne doubled up on the Flames by halftime and held them scoreless in the third quarter allowing Coach Greene and Coach Pullen to clear the bench to get some valuable playing time for the reserves. Fishburne’s starters saw limited playing time but still made big impacts on the game. Chance Berry once again led the JV Caissons with 18 points and Laquiar Foster returned from illness and added 10 points to the winning effort. Carson Holder had 6 points and Chad Kunde added 5. The Caissons will travel to Covenent on Friday for their fifth conference game.

Coach’s Comments

“We did not want our team to take EMHS for granted. We reinforced the fact that we aren’t the same team we were on December 9th and neither are they. The players did exactly what they were supposed to do. They gave 100% effort and did not play down to the competition. We will face VES and Woodberry Forest again later in the season and I hope that this game show our players that the outcome can be different the second time around. Coach Pullen and I also felt that we needed to win this game to stay alive in the conference. It was a good win to have since we have 7 games in the next 14 days.”
