Former FMS PG player honored by Missouri Valley Conference

Southern Illinois freshman basketball player Harry Whitt is a recipient of the Missouri Valley Conference’s State Farm Good Neighbor Award.

Whitt, a 6-10, 220-pounder from Tucson, Ariz., had a perfect 4.0 GPA in his first semester. He is the men’s basketball representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

During his first month’s at SIU Whitt spearheaded the team’s effort to bring toys to disadvantaged children during the holiday season. He made appearances at the University Mall to collect toys for the Marine Corps and assisted with collecting toys from kids battling cancer atCardinalGlennonHospitalinSt. Louis.

Whitt also participated in the Men’s Basketball Holiday Clinic and the Attucks Park Family Fun Festival.
