FMS Announces Fall Athletics Awards
Waynesboro, VA — Three times each school year the Fishburne Military School Caissons come together in Lawton Chapel to celebrate the successes of their athletic teams and to recognize individual efforts and achievements. The awards presentations are then followed by a special dinner prepared for the athletes.
Fishburne Military School Athletics Director, MAJ Bryan Greene (VA), recapped the Fall Athletics seasons noting: “This Fall season was one that did not see a lot of wins in the traditional sense but there were victories throughout the season. The SOCCER team did go winless this year but the team faced adversity together and improved throughout the season. The JV SOCCER team got its first win since the team was reinstated last season. The CROSS COUNTRY team has seen all of their times improve over the season and will compete in the state meet this Friday. The FOOTBALL team only won two games but I got nothing but good reports from the people that saw them play no matter the lack of size or experience they had, the teams that took the field on Fridays never quit.”
Following Coach Greene’s remarks, each coach recognized their team’s standouts, and congratulated each of their athletes for a season of effort and determination.
The final and most prestigious of Fishburne Military School’s athletics awards was presented. The Colonel James G. Hogg Award is presented three times per year to the cadet-athlete who best embodies the ideals of athletic and academic excellence. A plaque in the Fishburne foyer permanently displays the names of recipients. Cadet Tyler Long ’16 (Beavercreek, OH) was presented with the Hogg Award.
