FMS Announces Cadet Leadership for 2018-2019
The Corps is Formed!
Waynesboro, VA – During Fishburne Military School’s annual First Formation last week, the school officially announced its Cadet Leadership for the 2018-2019 Academic
Year. In the school’s Quadrangle, Cadet Leaders were pinned with their new rank and sworn in as Officers and NCOs of the Fishburne Military School Corps of Cadets.
Cadet Joseph Jones (South Fulton, TN) was presented with the traditional Battalion Commander’s sword by FMS Superintendent CAPT Mark Black, US Navy (Ret.). During his remarks to the assembled Corps, Faculty, Staff and Friends of FMS, Black called upon Jones and the rest of the Cadet Corps to “Demonstrate the will to be successful and harness your efforts collectively with your brothers…Recognize that everyone is weak as an individual, but united together you are extremely strong and can overcome any obstacle.”
Cadet Donald Cravins (Washington, DC) was named as Battalion Executive Officer; Cadet Bryson Overton (Sanford, NC) was installed as Battalion Sergeant Major, Cadet Ryan Curran (Carthage, NC) was selected as Alpha Company Commander; Cadet Colby Salyer (Bristol, VA) was named Bravo Company Commander; Cadet Dylan Gladhill (New Market, MD) was named Charlie Company Commander; Cadet Malachi Wright (New York, NY) was named Band Company Commander.

Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS is designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academies. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
