Fishburne XC Has Huge Weekend

The Caissons traveled to Woodberry Forest on Friday, November 9th, for the Virginia Independent Schools State Cross Country Championships. With Colin Turnnidge, a three-time all-state runner, leading the pack, FMS finished 9th out of 32 teams. This marks the best finish the Caissons have ever recorded at the State Championships.

Following their stellar performance at Woodberry, the FMS runners moved on to finish their season with an overall team victory at the 116th Infantry 5K race on Saturday in Staunton, VA. Upon hearing the news of the FMS Cross Country performances, Fishburne Superintendent and FMS Alumnus, Col. Gary Morrison (VA), couldn’t contain his enthusiasm, “I have never seen a Cross Country team make noise like this one has! This really is awesome stuff!”

“We’ve really been blessed with some very talented runners this season,” noted Msgt Mike Anson, FMS Athletics Director and Cross Country Coach. “This was probably the strongest team we’ve ever fielded.”
