Waynesboro, VA — In November, Fishburne Military School announced that their Raiders Team had qualified for US Army JROTC’s 4th Brigade “Best of the Best” competition for the third consecutive year. Now, the Raiders can welcome FMS’ Drill Teams to the “Best of the Best” club.

Fishburne Military School’s Senior Army Instructor, LTC Robert A. Hunt, USA (ret), announced yesterday that the FMS Color Guard, Exhibition Drill Team and Regulation Drill teams will be attending the Best of the Best 4th Brigade Championship in Hickory, NC. on 20 February.

The Fishburne Military School Corps of Cadets is included in the United States Army JROTC Cadet Command’s 4th Brigade, which is headquartered at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and is responsible for Army ROTC programs in West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

Of the 318 JROTC units that comprise the 4th Brigade, only 3 have qualified to send BOTH their Raiders and Drill Teams to Best of the Best competitions.

“Sending everyone to Best of the Best”, noted FMS Superintendent, COL Gary Morrison (VA), FMS Class of 1981, “not only speaks to the hard work and professionalism within the FMS Corps of Cadets, it also highlights what an ELITE program our JROTC instructors have built here at Fishburne Military School. We couldn’t be more proud of the entire department: instructors and cadets alike.”

Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. Boasting a 100% college-acceptance rate for the past 10 consecutive years, FMS has also been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academics. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
