The Fishburne Military School (VA) Caissons Thump Massanutten 7-3

The Fishburne Military School Caissons improve to 1-3 on the season and will travel to Chatham, VA to face Hargrave on April 16th.

The Fishburne Military School (VA) Lacrosse team defeated Massanutten Academy by a score of 7-3 on Anderson Field yesterday.

The Caissons were lights out on defense, led by Wyatt Duffield (Simi Valley, CA) in goal. FMS’ man down defense was on point throughout the afternoon and the Caissons played well collectively as a defense.

On the offensive side, the Caissons were stellar. They moved the ball extremely well, controlled the pace throughout most of the game, and took a number of great shots.

Scoring for the Caissons were: Mitchell Andrew (Lancaster, PA) with 1 goal, Adrian Sullivan (Barrington, RI), Wesley Kuhney (Silver Spring, MD) and Robert Goetz (Blacksburg, VA) each had 2 goals.

The whole team played with heart and out-hustled Massanutten on every groundball. Preston Scantlebury (Silver Spring, MD) and Zachary McIntyre (Bristow, VA) won 12/14 faceoffs. (Scantlebury – 5 wins; McIntyre – 7).IMG_1017

Fishburne Coach Jon Oliveri noted, “I can’t even begin to describe how much the guys have improved over the past few games. I am so proud of these guys and they truly are playing like a family.”

The Caissons, now 1-3, will have a week until their next game when they will travel to Chatham, VA to face a tough Hargrave team on April 16th.

Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. Boasting a 100% college-acceptance rate for the past 10 consecutive years, FMS has also been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academics. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
