Fishburne Military School XC Staying Strong

Recap by Coach Woods

Fishburne Military School Cross Country

The Fishburne Military School Cross Country Team is off to another outstanding start.

On Tuesday at St. Anne-Belfield Invitational in Charlottesville’s Darden Park, the cross country team took 4th out of 11 teams.   Saint Christopher’s won with 49 points; Covenant took 2nd with 65 points; Trinity Episcopal School placed 3rd with 112 points; Fishburne finished close behind in 4th place with 117 points ahead of Miller School in 5th place with 198 points.

Senior Hunter Jennings paced the team with a medal-winning, sixth-place finish in a field of 118 runners.  Senior captain James Wright missed a medal by one spot with an 11th place finish.  Sophomore Solomon Adams finished 19th overall.

Senior Logan Amico finished in 40th place; Senior Jacob Neufeld finished in 41st place; Sophomore Doug Marsh finished in 45th place; Sophomore Nicholas Rehmann finished in 64th place.

Caisson runners continued to run well, as four runners set new PR’s (personal records): Bailey, Kelley, Neufeld, and Vaughan.

The Caissons return to action Friday, October 10th at Miller School at 4:30 pm.

This was a great race to preview our competition for the State Cross Country championships.  Three of the top six teams at states last year were in this race: Miller (4th place at States last year); Trinity (5th place at States last year); and Covenant (6th place at States last year) .

Three-time state champs Trinity Episcopal said, “that’s our challenge right there” as we walked by them.  They narrowly edged us out by 5 points, but the Caissons will be seeking revenge in a month at States.

Roll, CAISSONS!
