Fishburne Military School Announces November Awards
Waynesboro, VA — Fishburne Military School has officially announced Cadet Award winners for the month of November, 2015. These award winners are selected each month by a board of Cadet Officers and approved by the Offices of the Commandant, JRTOC, Headmaster and Superintendent of the school. Cadet Award winners are selected based upon academic and military performance as well as community service achievements throughout the previous month.
Cadet Stacy Wood from Waynesboro, VA was named Fishburne Military School’s Cadet of the Month for November 2015. Wood is an 8th grader and the son of Mr. Jim Wood. As a reward for his efforts, Cadet Wood will enjoy extra privileges including a 3-day Weekend Pass, one Special Dinner, ten Commandant Merits, and the right to wear the Cadet of Month shoulder-cord.
Cadet Staff Sergeant Alexander Moye of Gainesville, VA was officially named Fishburne Military School’s Cadet Non-Commissioned Officer of the Month for November
2015. Moye is a senior and the son of Mr. Brad Moye and Mrs. Tammy Moye. As a reward, Moye will enjoy special privileges including 10 Superintendent Merits, 10 Commandant Merits, one special meal and one Four Day Pass from 1830 Thursday to 1900 Monday.
Cadet First Lieutenant Jacob Owens from Suffolk, VA was named Officer of the Month for November 2015. Owens is a senior and the son of Ms. Angela Cuci. Cadet Owens is a member of the Key Club and serves as the Corps Logistics Officer at Fishburne. He will receive an additional town pass and will be granted special seating during meals.
Fishburne Military School Superintendent, COL Gary R. Morrison (VA), FMS Class of 1981, noted “Each of these young men has demonstrated the will to work to improve themselves, their school and their community. Their achievements keep with the highest traditions of Fishburne Military School. I commend each one of them, along with their instructors and families, on a job well done!”
Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS is designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academics. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
