Waynesboro, Virginia – Fishburne Military School’s Cadet Leadership has announced the results of their most recent Honor Board to determine Cadet awards for October.

Cadet Hunter Jennings ’15 (Riva, Maryland), son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan Jennings, was named Cadet of the Month. Upon receiving the award, Jennings noted, “I feel honored to receive this award, it gives me motivation to continue to do my job.” Cadets earning this award enjoy: One 3-Day Weekend Pass, one Special Dinner, ten Commandant Merits, and the right to wear the Cadet of Month shoulder-cord.

Cadet Captain Blake J. Justen ’15, (Mentor, Ohio), son of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Justen, earned the honor of Officer of the Month. Upon receiving the award, Justen noted, “I want to thank the people who helped me get to this point, without the love and support of my family and friends I don’t think I would be getting this award.” Cadets earning this award enjoy: 10 Superintendent Merits, 10 Commandant Merits, one special meal and one Four Day Pass from 1830

Fishburne Military School Cadet James Kelley (London, KY) named NCO of Month

Cadet Staff Sergeant James D. Kelley (London, Kentucky) was named as Fishburne Military School’s Cadet Non-Commissioned Officer of the Month for October 2014.

Thursday to 1900 Monday.

Cadet Staff Sergeant James D. Kelley ’16, (London, Kentucky) was named as NCO of the Month. Upon receiving the award, Kelley noted, “I want to thank my squad leaders, and the rest of my company staff for helping me to do my job.” Cadets earning this award enjoy: 10 Superintendent Merits, 10 Commandant Merits, one special meal and one Four Day Pass from 1830 Thursday to 1900 Monday.

Recipients of these Cadet awards are nominated by their peers from within each company and then selected by an Honor Board of Cadet Officers following a series of questions designed to test each nominee’s knowledge of Fishburne and American History, US Government, and JROTC History and Protocol. Those named Cadet of the Month, upon

“These young men,” noted FMS Superintendent, COL Gary Morrison (VA), FMS ’81, “represent the best that Fishburne Military School has to offer. They have worked diligently and each has made remarkable progress in their cadetships. They have earned our respect and our admiration.”

Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. Boasting a 100% college-acceptance rate for the past 10 consecutive years, FMS has also been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academics.
