The Fishburne Military School Caissons varsity basketball team traveled to Staunton for a contest against the Warriors of Grace Christian School on Tuesday night and returned to Waynesboro with a 65-31 win.
The Caissons defense set the tone early and often, holding the Warriors to singel digit scoring in each of the first three quarters, including a first quarter score of 16-4. Alexandria’s Jordan Jake, a junior and varsity captain, was named the MaxPreps Player of the Game for his 15 points and rebounding effort. Waynesboro juniors Qua’Sean Napier scored 15 and Treavor Norman had 14 points. Senior Dominic Hollins added 7 points as well as several rebounds and assists, while Waynesboro sophmore Kian Tate and Olney, MD native John Hendler both totaled 4 points while Calen Owens, Carter Marshall, and Ahmed Bocoum all chipped in 2 points. Fishburne is now 2-0 and will be back in action on December 2 when they travel to Harrisonburg to face Eastern Mennonite.
Our defense won this game for us and there are still tweeks that we need to make. Coach Abrams and I are very proud of the effort our guys put forth and the Caissons have the right attitude to continue improving. We still need to work on our offensive execution as I beleive that is our weakest area right now. Coach Abrams continues to be a great addition to the staff and we look forward to the rest of the season.
