FMS Track & Field Kicks Off Season
Recap by Coach Greene
On Monday, the Fishburne Military School Track & Field team traveled to Eastern Mennonite High School for their first meet of the year.
The final point standings were not indicative of the success or progress this young team has made in the oft weather-interrupted weeks leading up to this meet and FMS did not participate in several events. Fishburne finished fourth overall in the meet.
The Caissons’ only first place ribbon of the day went to the 3200m Relay team of Neufeld, Guldan, Ahn, and Wright. Morrison-Rogers won second place in the 100m and third in the 300m Hurdles. Wright also earned 3rd place in the 3200m Run. Other athletes scoring for the Caissons were Craan who finished 5th in the Triple Jump, Cates who finished 5th in the 100m dash, Neufeld who finished fourth in the 1600m, the 400m Relay team of Morrison-Rogers, Cates, McIntyre, and Malone finished 4th, Guldan who finished 5th in the 800m, and Ahn who finished 4th in the 3200m.
Another highlight of the meet was a new personal record in Shot Put set by Sisco.
The T&F team will have a quasi “home” meet today at Waynesboro High at 4:30. Cost to enter is $4.
Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an army JROTC program. Boasting a 100% college-acceptance rate for the past 10 consecutive years, FMS has also been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academics. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command. For more information visit www.fishburne.org.
