Fishburne Military School Raiders Finish Strong in Buckingham
Waynesboro, VA — Fishburne Military School’s Army JROTC Raiders A and B Teams made a strong showing on Saturday, competing at the Buckingham High School Invitational Raider Meet.
Of the 14 teams competing at the meet, Fishburne’s A Team finished in 3rd Place overall and the FMS B team (which was comprised of both B and C team Raiders) finished in 7th Place.
The A team, which had three regular starters missing, placed first in the Logistics Relay, second in the Tire Flip, and third place in the 5K Road March. The Fishburne Military School Raider A Team commander is C/LT Hunter Wren-Russ (Tehachapi, CA).
The Fishburne Military School Corps of Cadets is included in the United States Army JROTC Cadet Command’s 4th Brigade. 4th Brigade is headquartered at Fort Bragg, North Carolina and is comprised of 318 Army JROTC programs in West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
Earlier this year, the Fishburne Military School Raiders qualified to compete once again in the 4th Brigade’s annual “Best of the Best” competition.
Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS is designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academies.
