Fishburne Military School Raiders Find New Ways to Win
By Cadet Daniel May ’15, Battalion S-5
Last Saturday was another strong performance from the FMS raiders. Although many of the A team members were absent from the meet for a variety of reasons, the Raiders once again showed that they have the depth to compete.
The A team finished 3rd overall and, in a surprising turn of events, the B team finished 2nd. While the A team was missing their captain and their strongest runner, Cadet Logan Amico and Cadet James Wright, to national guard obligations the B team took pride in knowing that they could compete with the A team.
“It is a big confidence boost for us, I have a lot of respect for the guys on A team, but it was nice to show people that we can do well too,” remarked Cadet Caleb Taylor.
The Raiders will be in action again on November 8th as they attempt to qualify for the Brigade Championships, dubbed “Best of the Best”, for a third straight year.
Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. Boasting a 100% college-acceptance rate for the past 10 consecutive years, FMS has also been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academics. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command. For more information visit www.fishburne.org.
