Fishburne Military School Key Club Helping Pets
On Saturday, 13 members of Fishburne Military School’s Key Club reported for a very special kind of duty at St. John’s Catholic Church in Waynesboro.
The Church played host to pet enthusiasts and animal supporters by sponsoring a Pet Adoption Event and Pet Food Drive. For the Cadets from FMS (which sits less than a block from St. John’s) this was an opportunity to support the local community as well as to way to bring comfort and love to their fuzzy neighbors.
“The Cadets had a great time,” said Mrs. Debbie Todd, FMS Key Club Advisor, “they were able to support a good cause and really enjoy some time with these pets. We sometimes forget how much our boys may miss their pets at home, this gives them a chance to experience that kind of special interaction and to feel good about doing something meaningful for a negleted animal.”
The Caissons helped out during the event, organized by Shenandoah Valley Animal Services Center, by walking dogs and keeping the animals occupied and happy throughout the afternoon.
Fishburne Military School’s Key Club volunteers their services throughout the school for a variety of charitable causes.
