Fishburne Military School Golfers Open Season with Win

Fishburne Military School (Waynesboro, VA) Golfers opened their season with a win over Grace ChristianWaynesboro, VA — Fishburne Military School’s Golf Team opened up their season this week with an impressive victory on their home course as the Caissons’ lumberjacks overtook Grace Christian 195 to 220 in a match at Waynesboro Country Club.

Cadet Zane McCranie (Lake City, FL) led the team with a low score of 41. Tyler Long (Beavercreek, OH) was not far behind with a 47, followed by Garrett Venn (Staunton, VA) scoring 51, and Blake Seydel (Woodbridge, VA) posting 56.

Fishburne Military School’s rookies also did well for their first time out. Bryce Proffer (Virginia Beach, VA) managed to bogie a difficult hole and ended the day with a 68. Charles Wilson (Stuarts Draft, VA) followed the group with a 71 and showed promise in perseverance.

The next match for Fishburne Military School’s Golfers is at Stuart Hall on April 4th followed soon after by an April 6th match with Virginia Episcopal School.


Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built upon the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS is designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academies.
