Fishburne Military School Football Wins Home Opener
Recap by Coach Greene
Grace Christian School Warriors 7
Fishburne Military School Caissons 14
(Waynesboro, VA) It was a defensive struggle as both offenses had trouble finding the endzone in the Fishburne Military School Caissons season opener on Anderson Field. The Caissons first scored on a strip sack by senior Bo Branham that was recovered by fellow senior Jacob Randall and returned 82 yards for the Caissons first touchdown. A blocked PAT and an ensuing Grace touchdown resulted in a halftime score of 7-6 in favor of the Warriors.
Neither team was able to score during the third quarter but the Caissons stayed with their ground attack led by senior running back Tyree Scott and junior quarterback Dylan Bell. A redzone stand by the Warriors in the fourth quarter didn’t last long as senior Tyler Wease intercepted a pass out of the Warriors own endzone and returned it for a pick six. The Caissons followed that up with a fake PAT that was run in by Bell for the two point conversion.
Fishburne Military School’s stingy defense was able to hold its ground with sacks from sophomore Christian Towler and senior Joshua Boyce. The game was iced when senior Timothy Arndt recovered a blocked punt in the final two minutes.
The Caissons are now 1-0 and will travel to Vinyard Park in Roanoke for a battle under the lights with Roanoke Catholic next Friday at 7:00
