Fishburne Military School Basketball Tops Roanoke Catholic
The Fishburne Military School Caissons came into the game without a conference win and on a three game losing streak. They knew they had to rectify the situation as soon as possible. The team pulled together enough to stop the Celtics of Roanoke Catholic by 4 on Thursday afternoon in Waynesboro, Virginia.
The Caissons led wire to wire, by as many as 13 at one point, but Roanoke Catholic’s three point shooters kept them in the game. Fishburne was led by senior captain Cederick Ross with 23 points. Robert Smith helped pace the Caissons with 17 points of his own. Senior Captain Hunter Couchot and sophomore guard Kian Tate both finished with 9 points and Antwan Brown contributed another stellar defensive performance while chipping in 5 points to the winning effort.
The Caissons have a busy week next week as they try to improve their 4-4 record (1-3 VIC), starting Tuesday with a home conference matchup with Covenant at 6:00. The week wraps up with conference games at EMHS on Thursday and at home against Holy Cross on Friday.
Coach Greene noted “We did enough to win tonight but we areĀ continuing to improve.”

Boasting a 100% college-acceptance rate for the past 10 consecutive years, FMS has also been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academics. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation, accredited by US Army Cadet Command. For more information visit www.fishburne.org.
