Caissons Basketball Opens With Win

The Caissons varsity basketball team started the 2014-2015 season with a win on Tuesday night against the Saints of Legacy Christian. The Caissons came out hot and led after the first quarter. The Saints took control in the second quarter and carried a one point lead into halftime.

After a hard fought, even third period, the Caissons fought to take the lead in the closing minutes and hold on for the win. In a balanced scoring effort, Waynesboro’s Treavor Norman led the way for Fishburne with 15 points as well as winning the MaxPreps player of the game for his all around effort. Team captains Kian Tate of Waynesboro and Jordan Jake of Arlington, VA both had 14 points. Dominic Hollins of Ettrick, VA chipped in 6 points in spite of being in foul trouble for most of the game. Fishersville’s Calen Owens came off the bench and hit two late free throws that were crucial to the win and brought his point total to 3.

The hustle and determination were there. We made some mistakes and there are several areas we need to improve on. We did not play up to our potential for several reasons but we never panicked and never gave up. This is a good sign of things to come with this team. The addition of Coach Abrams to the staff here at FMS is invaluable as his expertise was a big reason for this win.

Final Score: Legacy Christian 60 – Fishburne 65
