Fishburne Hires New Business Manager
Colonel James O. Tubbs, USAF (ret) is the new Business Manager at Fishburne Military School.
Colonel Tubbs graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1980 and immediately attended graduate school at the University of Texas where he earned his MBA degree. He attended pilot training at Reese AFB, TX and flew various tactical fighter aircraft for the next thirteen years. His time in the cockpit included flying combat missions over Northern Iraq during Operations NORTHERN WATCH (1998) and over Serbia during Operation ALLIED FORCE (1999).
Colonel Tubbs also has educational and staff experience across a spectrum of active duty military assignments. He attended the Army Command and General Staff College, the USAF School of Advanced Airpower Studies, and the National War College. Col Tubbs also served two tours in the Pentagon, first at Headquarters USAF where he coordinated Joint Force issued during the Quadrennial Defense Review in 2001 and later as analyst in the office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Resources and Plans. He finished his time in the Pentagon as a Military Assistant to the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy.
Immediately prior to his retirement in September 2008, Jim was the Commander, AFROTC Detachment 880 and Professor of Aerospace Studies at the Virginia Military Institute. Following retirement he worked for a year and a half for the Catholic Diocese of Richmond as the Catholic Campus Minister at VMI and Washington and Lee University.
Col Tubbs and his wife Sharon still live in Lexington, but hope to move to Waynesboro during the summer. They have two children – James (22) and Elizabeth (19).
