Fishburne Grad hosts NBC reality series – “The Great American Road Trip”
At FMS we love learning about the accomplishments of our graduates in the years that follow each cadet’s experience in Waynesboro. While some Fishburne grads go on to rewarding careers in the military, most find exciting careers in the private sector as lawyers, business owners, politicians, and even career entertainers.
Reno Collier (89′) always had dreams of becoming a stand-up comedian long before graduating from FMS. After Fishburne, Collier, 38, attended Elon College in North Carolina before finding success in the entertainment industry. In an article by Kipp Hanley of InsideNOVA.com Andy Collier, Reno’s father, is noted as saying that he wasn’t surprised by his son’s fame. Growing up the Collier family enjoyed Reno’s sense of humor and would frequently have stomach aches, “not from eating, but from laughing so hard.”
Collier got his start at the Punchline Comedy Club in Atlanta, GA, and very quickly thereafter landed gigs opening for Larry the Cable Guy of the Blue Color Comedy tour’s “2004 Tour of America,” as well as appearances on NBC’s “Late Friday” and “Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher.” Recently, Reno Collier opened for Larry the Cable Guy in front of thousands at the University of Nebraska’s Cornhusker Stadium, in Lincoln, NE. Collier has clearly made it to the “big time.”
Collier’s success has continued since his performance at Cornhusker Stadium. Last month Collier began work as the host of a new NBC reality series called “The Great American Road Trip.” The show airs Monday nights at 8pm EST. If you haven’t had the chance to watch the show yet, full episodes can be found here.
