First Formation Tomorrow! Plus Summer School Images
Over 120 Cadets will start the 2009-2010 School Year at Fishburne Military School. The corps contains 62 returning cadets “old men” and 59 cadets that are new to FMS. First Formation, beginning at 9:00am on Tuesday, August 25th, will mark a new beginning and the start of the Fall Semester.
Several cadets including a few local day students from the Shenandoah Valley were honored at the School’s Leadership Awards banquet last Friday. The Commandant’s Office has decided to give the highest honor of Battalion Commander and rank of Captain to Rogan Richer of Centerville, VA, son of Robert & Kimberly Richer.
Thomas Tattersall of Staunton, Virginia, son of Peter and Janell, is the battalion Adjutant (S-1). His rank is usually reserved for cadets who have had a year or more of training, but Cadet Tattersall exhibited fantastic leadership skills and growth over the Summer School Session. Tattersall has been promoted after just five weeks of learning. The FMS family is incredibly excited to watch as Cadet Tattersall learns and grows over the course of the 2009-2010 year.
Another local Virginian with us this fall is William Saxman, son of Delegate Christopher B. Saxman and his wife Michele of Staunton, VA. Cadet Saxman was also with us for Summer School and his parents have decided to enroll William for the school year. He will be in formation for the first time on Tuesday morning. Delegate Saxman delivered the Summer School Commencement Address for a crowd of two-hundred parents, family members and FMS staff.
Many of the 90 cadets that attended our Summer School session have elected to return to Fishburne for the Fall Semester. Colonel Roy F. Zinser, USA (Ret) noted that the Summer School corps “learned an incredible amount, and really progressed in both the classroom and on the parade field.”
Below are a few of our Summer School images. Stay tuned for more photos from the First Formation event on 8/25.
