Color Guard Takes 1st at American Legion Meet
Report from LTC Hunt:
On Saturday, the Fishburne Color Guard took home the first place Trophy at the American Legion Drill meet at Liberty High School against very stiff competition from units from all four services. Kurt Wiegand did an outstanding job in commanding the team he had less than a week to prepare. It was great that his Mom was in attendance.
Also in attendance was Larkin Petrelle’s Mom who was there to see Larkin make his debut with the Hudgins Rifles drill team. With the wrestling team at the conference championships Fishburne used four “B” team members as replacements and all performed very well. Cadet Thomas had to modify the routine based on the missing “A” team members in a just a few days. he is commended for his leadership.
Finally, I applaud Cadet/CPT Pinner for his team’s performance, again he had to learn the sequence and train his team in less than a week.
All the cadets’ conduct was outstanding (as you may recall they received the leadership award for outstanding sportsmanship and personal conduct at the very first drill meet). We also had three cadets finish in the top 10 in the armed knockout competition.
Fishburne Army JROTC teams will compete in level 2 Leadership and Academic Bowls later this week. The Raider team has three raider meets on 23 Feb (home), 2 Mar (MagnaVista), and 9 Mar (Manchester).
