Chase Cormier: On to Grambling State
Grambling State is in the midst of a rebuilding effort under first-year head coach Joseph Price. Price may have landed his floor general of the future in Fishburne point guard Chase Cormier.
Cormier, a 6’0″ guard from Windsor Mill, Md., made it official on Wednesday, signing with Grambling for the class of 2013.
“It’s a sign that all of our hard work is paying off, really. I’m blessed to see my teammates sign with their schools. Now we’re just waiting for the other five to sign,” the team-first Cormier said.
Chase is the second of the Cormier brood to be a part of the college-basketball world. Older brother Dylon is a sophomore at Loyola (Md.).
“This is a tremendous accomplishment for Chase and our family,” said his mother, Cynthia Smoot, who was on hand for the Signing Day ceremony at Fishburne on Wednesday.
“We’re very excited, and want to thank Fishburne for everything they have invested in Chase. We really appreciate it,” Smoot said.
