Fishburne Military School Boy Scouts Pitching In
Fishburne Military School’s Boys Scout Troop #1879 embarked on a very special mission this weekend to bring aid to a local hero in need. Seven members of the FMS Troop decided to pitch in by helping the area first-responder prepare for the winter. On Saturday the Cadets traveled to his home and spent the day chopping and stacking firewood.

Waynesboro, VA — Fishburne Military School Varsity Soccer (4-10-0) played a triad of matches this week: two away and one at home. The week’s matches started by travelling to Lynchburg on Tuesday, October 17th to play Holy Cross on a short, uneven pitch on a comfortable and cool afternoon. The season final against Hargrave–home at Anderson Field–remains to be played on Thursday, October 26th.

Coyner Springs Park, Waynesboro, VA– It was a perfect day to run a race and many Fishburne Military School Caissons Cross Country runners took advantage of the cooler temperatures to post improved times for the season. With a field of 105 runners, Sophomore Garrett Rose (Columbus, IN) again led the team. Fishburne’s next meet is next Saturday in Lynchburg for the VIC Conference meet.

Waynesboro, VA — Cadets, Faculty and Staff alike at Fishburne Military School have been busily preparing for one of the biggest weekends of their school year. Parents Military Weekend at FMS is an opportunity for Cadets to showcase their talents and achievements. Throughout the weekend parents will come to campus from across the country and around the globe.

Waynesboro, VA — Fishburne Military School Cross Country’s 7th- and 8th-graders made the trek across town as Kate Collins Middle School hosted 81 runners in a XC meet for Middle Schoolers. Eighth grader Justin Hill (St. Augustine, FL) medaled in the event ,.. the next Caissons runner to finish was 7th grader, Ian Clardy (Arlington, VA), who earned a personal record.

A new book, “Developing World Class Leaders: The Ultimate Guide to Leadership Development” by Rick Tiemann, Fishburne Military School Class of 1970, is sure to become a required part of every Caisson’s Leadership Library. During his Cadetship, Rick was the Commander of the Hudgins Rifles, and Vice-President of the Varsity Club. He earned athletic letters in Football and basketball.

The Fishburne Military School Varsity Soccer Team (3-8-0) traveled to Woodstock on October 9th to play Massanutten on a hard, gnat-infested pitch on a very humid late-afternoon. The Caissons had ten shots and a very productive 41 steals, while neither side was able to score in the first. Altogether, the Caissons had an even more productive second half than the first: with 26 shots and 63 steals.

The Fishburne Military School Raiders (A Team) traveled to Orange County HS on Saturday to take on a field of twenty-two other Raiders. The Caissons maintained their reputation as one of the Brigade’s top Raider Units by placing first in two categories and placing in the top ten in every category. The Raiders will be back in action on 28 October for the Fishburne Military School Raider Meet at Coyner Springs Park.

Monterey, VA — The Fishburne Military School Rocketeers traveled to their usual site in Monterey, VA to launch rockets on Saturday as part of the Teen America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) program. The cadets learned much from the launch and are expected to design around the problems they encountered. All of the Caissons’ chutes deployed perfectly and no eggs were broken in landing.

The Fishburne Military School Key Club along with Waynesboro High School Key Club helped bring some colorful fun to to local kids during Waynesboro’s annual Kite Day. Sixteen FMS Key Club members assisted with helping children prepare and fly paper kites. The annual event has been a Waynesboro, VA favorite since its inception in 2006.
