Fishburne Military School Announces December Awards
In recognition of his outstanding academic and military performance, Cadet Juan Spencer, son of Mr. Leonard Spencer III, has been named Fishburne Military School’s Cadet of the Month for December 2017. Spencer, a junior from Lancaster, PA, is in his first year at FMS. He is a member of the FMS Rifle Team and plans to run Track in the Spring. He is an honor roll student and works as a cadet assistant in the FMS Mess Hall.

Fishburne Military School has been formally invited by the Northam Inaugural Committee to march in Governor-elect Ralph Northam’s inaugural parade on Saturday, January, 13. This marks the second time that FMS has marched in the Virginia Gubernatorial Inauguration. The Caissons appeared in the 1986 Inauguration of Fishburne Military School Alumnus Gerald Baliles, who served as Virginia’s 65th Governor.

For nearly two decades, the Fishburne Military School Key Club has volunteered to ring the bells for the Salvation Army Red Kettle Drive. This past Saturday, twelve cadets braved the bitter cold temperatures and rang the bells for one-hour shifts outside Kroger on Arch Avenue. The cadets cheerfully greeted shoppers coming and going and wished them a Merry Christmas.

“The kids wrestled hard after the first round, I don’t know, overall we had a poor first round, maybe it was jitters of a strange place, but they settled down and wrestled well the rest of the way. The competition was tough, but everything we do now, is geared to the end result in February.” Waters said of his team’s overall performance.

Fishburne Military School officially announced its monthly Cadet Awards winners for the month of November. Cadet Junke Jiang has been named Cadet of the Month; Cadet Captain Chimere Jonathan Nzedu was named Cadet Officer of the Month; Cadet First Sergeant Ryan Thomas Curran was named Cadet Non-Commissioned Officer of the Month for November 2017.

Waynesboro, VA – On Tuesday, December 12, Fishburne Military School will once again host a Wreaths Across America ceremony to honor America’s veterans. Colonel Michael Wawrzyniak, Professor of Military Science at the Virginia Military Institute and head of VMI’s Military Science Department, will deliver the address to the Corps of Cadets and guests. The ceremony will begin at 2:30pm in the Fishburne gymnasium.

It was a great day to be a Fishburne Military School Caisson at the VIC Conference XC meet on Saturday. Almost every runner posted their fastest 1 mile split on the Humankind Course (Old Presbyterian Home campus). Some cadets continued their overall time improvement as well, with 8th grader Justin Hill and 7th grader Ian Clardy earning season personal records (PR’s).

Fishburne Military School Cadet Joseph Presley Thomas Jones, Class of 2019, of South Fulton, TN, was officially presented with the Military Order of the Purple Heart’s annual Leadership Award on Wednesday. The Military Order of the Purple Heart Award recognizes an outstanding cadet who is enrolled in the ROTC/JROTC program and demonstrates leadership ability.

Yesterday, Fishburne Military School officially announced its monthly Cadet Awards winners for the month of October. Cadet Sergeant Tommy Dao has been named Fishburne Military School’s Cadet of the Month, Cadet Captain Elian Jose Gonzalez, was named Fishburne Military School’s Cadet Officer of the Month, and Cadet Sergeant Major Shunyuan Hu, was named Cadet NCO of the Month.

Fishburne Military School’s Senior Army Instructor announced yesterday that Cadet Connor Green, son of Mr. and Mrs. Randall Green, has been awarded one of the school’s allotted nominations to a US Service Academy. “My father served in the Navy for twenty-three years and retired as a chief,” Green explained, “he is my hero and was a real inspiration….”
