Longtime wrestling coach Terry Waters has found a new home and a new challenge. Yet, now in his second season in guiding the Fishburne Military School’s program, Waters’ message to young athletes hasn’t changed.

The Fishburne Military School Wrestling Team traveled to St. Christopher’s School for the Virginia Prep Duals. Coach Terry Waters’ resilient squad battled back on Saturday to take 6th place overall without their full roster. The Caissons gave up 24 points by not filling all of the weight classes, those points were the difference between sixth and third.

Fishburne Military School Swim Team Solid in Roanoke — Roanoke, VA — The Fishburne Military School Swim team traveled to Roanoke, Virginia last week to face a field of four teams. The Caissons went 3-1 by defeating North Cross, Faith Christian and Carlisle – falling only to Virginia Episcopal School.

Next up for the Caissons is another round of conference duals with VES, Hargrave, Miller, and Roanoke Catholic on Tuesday. The team will try to claim the conference regular season championship for the second year in a row. Matches are slated to begin at 5pm in the gymnasium in Fishburne Military School’s Alumni Memorial Hall.

On Saturday, the Fishburne Military School Drill Teams took the short trip north to compete in Harrisonburg High School’s annual “Bluestreak Invitational” Drill Meet. The Caissons took top honors for the event and made the very most of beautiful Shenandoah Valley weather. The Cadets from Waynesboro dominated the events for the day, bringing home eight medals and the 1st Place Overall trophy.

Fishburne Military School’s Army JROTC Department will be providing the Corps of Cadets with Emergency First Response (EFR) training. Cadets will spend the next three weeks training on Emergency First Response Skills, during which time they will receive hands-on CPR, AED, and First Aid instruction. The certification the cadets will earn upon completion of training and testing is good for two (2) years.

One hundred members of the Fishburne Military School Corps of Cadets proudly marched through Richmond, VA’s Capitol Square on Saturday to help inaugurate the Commonwealth’s 73rd Governor, Ralph Northam. FMS, the oldest and smallest military school for boys in Virginia, was officially invited to march in the event by Governor Northam’s Inauguration Committee in late December.
