Caissons Gather for George Washington Birthday Parade

This year, Fishburne Military School Cadets will also be looking to defend the “Best Youth Military Unit and Drill Team” title awarded to them last year in this parade, which is the largest parade celebrating the birth of George Washington in the USA.

Fishburne Guidance Launches Career Fair

Last week the Fishburne Military School’s Guidance Director, MAJ Dan Baranik (VA), unveiled a new Career Fair for the benefit of the Corps. Local area business owners and professionals including FMS Alumni met with groups of Cadets throughout the week to discuss career paths, educational options and proper planning.

Color Guard Takes 1st at American Legion Meet

On Saturday, the Fishburne Color Guard took home the first place Trophy at the American Legion Drill meet at Liberty High School against very stiff competition from units from all four services. Kurt Wiegand did an outstanding job in commanding the team he had less than a week to prepare.

Williamsburg Social a Hit

With FMS parents, friends and Alumni representing the classes of 1936 through 2006, the Williamsburg Lodge was bursting at its seams with Fishburne pride on Friday night for the Fishburne-Hudgins Educational Foundation, Inc’s annual Alumni Social.

Raiders Finish Strong at Manchester Meet

There were over 30 Raider teams competing at the Manchester High School meet. Fishburne placed fourth overall, which is the best result in school history. To be declared to be the most physically fit team at the meet is simply overwhelming.

Fishburne JROTC Shows Their True Colors…

Fifteen Cadet leaders from Fishburne took their show on the road this week for a service learning project at Kate Collins Middle school. The project, called “Winning Colors”, was designed as a way of demonstrating various personality types along with methods of managing these different types in order to build successful teams.

FMS Reinstitutes Thursday Chapel Meetings — Superintendent Stresses Fishburne Brotherhood

Yesterday, Fishburne Military School’s Superintendent, COL Gary R. Morrison (VA) ’81, convened the Corps for the first of what will be a continuing series of meetings. The all-Corps meeting marked the reinstitution of a long-time tradition at Fishburne Military School in which the entire Corps comes together weekly to discuss relevant issues.

PG Basketball Serving the Community

Although the stated purpose of these basketball clinics is “to teach the fundamentals of the game with an emphasis on individual and team development”, it’s readily apparent that there is a lot more going on here. Young men learning to mentor and discovering the joys of community service…children finding friendly and caring faces eager to spend time with them…and one proud Coach thrilled to help export the Fishburne experience.

Drill Teams Make Solid Showing in Portsmouth Competition

The Fishburne Military School Color Guard and Drill Teams competed at the Woodrow Wilson Drill Meet in Portsmouth, Virginia on Saturday December 8th. The Color Guard and Drill Teams had an early morning wake up (0400 or dark early) and traveled 3 and half hours on the FMS bus, arriving just in time to start competing in the 17th Annual JROTC Drill Meet.
