The National Garden Club picked Fishburne Military School to receive a Blue Star Memorial highway marker. The marker honors the men and women who have served in the United States armed forces.

Fishburne School Year Starts With Honors

Cadet William Curt (Port Republic, VA) took command of Alpha Company; Cadet Camden Teubner (Clearwater, FL) assumed command of Bravo Company; Cadet Min Chang Kang (Seoul, Korea) took charge of Charlie Company; and Cadet Jakob Harrison (Boulder, CO) accepted leadership for Band Company. Battalion Executive Officer is Cadet Larkin Petrelles (Falls Church, VA) and Battalion Sergeant Major is Cadet Luciano Dolfi (Stuarts Draft, VA).

On the Trail Again – John Noonan ’99 Tapped as Jeb Bush’s National Security Advisor

John Noonan, Fishburne Military School Class of 1999, is back on the campaign trail. Recently, Florida Governor, and Republican Presidential hopeful, Jeb Bush named Noonan to be his National Security Advisor. Noonan is leaving his role as spokesman for the House Armed Services Committee, and once advised Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign on defense policy.

Cadets, Debutantes Shine at Old Dominion Cotillion Ball

Fifteen Fishburne Military School cadets traveled to Chantilly, Virginia this past weekend to participate in the Old Dominion Cotillion’s 2015 Debutante Ball. Seven Fishburne cadets were chosen to act as official escorts for the 2015 debutante class. The Debutante Ball is the culmination of much hard work on the part of the young ladies involved in Cotillion, and it is the highlight of a week of activities leading up to the formal occasion. Our cadets also enjoyed a dance with ODC members and toured the Pentagon and U.S. Capitol.

Fishburne Key Club, Waynesboro High School Team Up for Service Project

Key Club members from Fishburne Military School and Waynesboro High School joined together this weekend to work at Waynesboro’s annual Summer Extravaganza. The groups hosted a tent that sold Sno-Cones and Papa John’s Pizza to hot and hungry festival-goers. Eighteen Fishburne Summer School and Key Club cadets ran the tent throughout the afternoon and evening hours.

Fishburne STEM Students Blast Off to Rocketry Camp

Fishburne Military School is sending members of its Rocketry Club to the NASA-sponsored Small Satellites for Secondary Students (S4) and Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) Summer Camp in Morgantown, West Virginia. The cadets will travel to the campus of West Virginia University (WVU) for an intensive, hands-on experience in rocketry. The trip is part of Fishburne’s successful STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Initiative.

Fishburne Summer Cadets Break for Field Day

“Go, go!,” “Breathe while you run!,” and “Good job!” were the shouts heard across Fishburne’s parade ground on Friday afternoon, as summer school cadets took a well-deserved break from classes to participate in Field Day, an event that focused on fun, physical challenge, and team-building. This year, Field Day was hosted by the JROTC staff, and events pitted Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie Companies against each other in a test of determination and teamwork.

Practice and repetition were the words of the day at Fishburne’s JROTC training on Wednesday. Cadets gathered by company at stations that introduced them to orienteering, harness-tying for rappelling, and drill and ceremony.
