Fishburne Military School Named to Top Schools List

Fishburne Military School has been named to Top High Schools and Colleges 2016 list by Virginia Living magazine for the fourth consecutive year. This year, FMS can thank its State Champion Rifle Team for landing Fishburne in the Top High Schools list. In previous years, Fishburne Military School has been recognized for capital improvements as well as for its ongoing STEM initiatives.

Fishburne Military School Cadets support Waynesboro's Tour de Valley

Fishburne Key Club and Tour de Valley Team Up Again

Eleven members of the Fishburne Military School’s Key Club turned out for the third consecutive year to lend their support to Tour de Valley by operating the final comfort station on the course. Proceeds from this charity event will go to the Michael Woodard Memorial Scholarship Fund at Fishburne Military School. Fishburne and Tour de Valley first teamed up in 2014 when the school’s annual Michael’s Ride fundraiser combined forces with TDV.

Fishburne Military School Names Leadership for 2016-2017

Yesterday in Lawton Chapel the Fishburne Military School Cadet Leadership for the 2016-2017 Academic Year was officially announced. Cadet Leaders were pinned with their new rank and sworn in as Officers and NCOs of the Fishburne Military School Corps of Cadets. Cadet Luciano Dolfi (Stuarts Draft, VA) was pinned by FMS Superintendent CAPT Mark Black to become the 2016-2017 Battalion Commander.

Fishburne Military School Welcomes 12th Superintendent

Waynesboro, VA – Fishburne Military School has officially selected retired Navy Captain Mark E. Black as the school’s 12th Superintendent. Black, a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and 30-year veteran of the United States Navy has most recently served as Commanding Officer and Professor of Naval Science at the University of Virginia’s Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) Unit.

Fishburne Military School’s New Virginia Gentlemen

Eleven Cadets from Fishburne Military School travelled on Saturday to take part in the 25th annual Debutante Ball hosted by Old Dominion Cotillion in Chantilly, VA. The Debutante Ball is the culmination of what is often years of work on the part of the young ladies involved in Cotillion, and it is the highlight of a week of activities leading up to the formal occasion.

Learning Gets Hands-on at FMS During Summer Session

“The idea of kinesthetic learning, or tactile learning,” explains Mrs. Susan Johnson, “is something that we have understood and implemented at Fishburne for generations. We know that boys learn best by doing. We are in the business of educating young men, and it simply isn’t fair to expect them to learn everything in a classroom or lecture setting…particularly during the Summer.”

Fishburne Military School Kicks Off Summer Session 2016

Fishburne Military School’s Summer Session 2016 officially began classes today with Cadets from across the country and around the world having checked into barracks over the weekend. The five-week session helps young men to focus on academics, time-management skills, and self-confidence while offering a wide variety of extra-curricular athletics and adventure training.

Fishburne Military School Shines at Ft. Pickett

Blackstone, Va — Cadets from Fishburne Military School (Waynesboro, VA) showed up to JROTC 4th Brigade’s Cadet Leadership Challenge ready to represent their school with pride. Of the more than 300 cadets who attended, FMS earned most of the top leadership roles. Dubbed JCLC Eagle, the week-long leadership course included over 300 JROTC cadets and 100 Army instructors.

As Summer Session Approaches, Fishburne Military School named to Best of Virginia

Fishburne Military School has been recognized for the fourth consecutive year by Virginia Living Magazine as one of the state’s top Independent Schools. In all, only fifteen Independent Schools in the state of Virginia were singled out for recognition as Best of Virginia. Of those fifteen schools, Fishburne Military School was the only military program to have earned the honor.
