Raiders B-Team Makes Statement at Orange County
the FMS Raiders took 1st place in the 5K road march, 1st place in the tire-flip. 2nd place in the litter-carry, 3rd place in the PT test, 5th place in rope-bridge. Over all, the Caissons earned 3rd place overall (male) and 7th place overall (co-ed). The Raiders will be hosting the next meet this Saturday (10/29) in Waynesboro.

On Monday the Fishburne Military School National Honor Society hosted its annual Fall Blood Drive. Cadets from the NHS worked to transform the Hobby-Hudgins Hall weight room into a donation collection center and set about promoting the event through flyers on campus and word of mouth.

Over the weekend, Parents of Cadets at Fishburne Military School streamed onto Campus for the Caissons’ annual Parents Military Weekend festivities. Over 100 families arrived throughout the course of the weekend for Parent/Teacher conferences, National Honor Society Inductions, Drill and Raiders Teams demonstrations, Soccer, fundraisers and more.

Joseph Byron Yount III, 76, former Waynesboro mayor and longtime city attorney, well known for his half century of board leadership at Fishburne Military School and as a local historian, speaker, and writer, died Sunday. Mr. Yount was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Fishburne-Hudgins Educational Foundation in 1967 and served tirelessly until his death.

The Fishburne Military School Key Club was on hand Saturday to once again assist the City of Waynesboro’s Parks and Recreation department with their annual community Kite Day. Fourteen Cadets served in two shifts as volunteers for the event which has been a growing Waynesboro favorite since 2006.

The Fishburne Family gathered in Lawton Chapel yesterday for Fishburne Military School’s annual Blessing of the Colors ceremony. The guest speaker, Major Kurt Cook USA(ret), FMS Class of 1987, urged Cadets on saying “it is imperative that you challenge yourself daily to improve…whether it be in academics, on the field, or in your personal life.”

For the fourth consecutive year, Fishburne Military School has been named to Virginia Living magazine’s list of Top Schools and Colleges in Virginia.

The Fishburne Military School Rocket Club traveled to their usual launch site in Monterey, VA to launch rockets on Saturday as part of the Teen America Rocketry Challenge (TARC) program at FMS then packed up their gear and data in order to volunteer at the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) for its Open House and outreach event the next day.

Earlier this Summer, twelve Cadets from Fishburne Military School took center stage JROTC 4th Brigade’s Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC Eagle). Those Cadets were honored during a brief awards ceremony held before the assembled Corps of Cadets on Thursday. Cadets from Fishburne Military School excelled throughout the training and, by week’s end, earned positions as Company Commander for two of the three companies formed.
