Caissons Golf takes on Ironwood
Zane McCranie (Lake City, FL) scored the team best with a 40 which is one point below his last game and doing so on an unfamiliar course. Garrett Venn (Staunton, VA) and Tyler Long (Beavercreek, OH) scored their personal worst with 57 and 59, respectively. Blake Seydel (Woodbridge, VA) fared little better with a 60.

Despite the intense competition from D-1 programs, a number of FMS Cadets Jason Bruinius (Charlotte, NC), Elijah Jackson (Warsaw, VA), Garrett Rose (Columbus, IN), and Douglas Marsh (Middlebrook, VA) brought home a victory in the 4 x 800 relay. Marsh brought back an additional 1st-place finish in the 800.

The Caissons started strong amidst the downpour with goals from Bobby Palermo (Huntingtown, MD) and Sam Wickstrom (Chester, VA). Additionally, Caisson goalie David Eldredge (Carver, MA) made several key stops to keep the Caissons tight upon their opponents’ heels. Zachariah Moss (Culpeper, VA) scored a buzzer beater in the final seconds.

Waynesboro, VA — Fishburne Military School’s Golf Team opened up their season this week with an impressive victory on their home course as the Caisson lumberjacks overtook Grace Christian 195 to 220 in a match at Waynesboro Country Club. Cadet Zane McCranie (Lake City, FL) led FMS with a low score of 41.

Fishburne Military School Junior Wally Harris (Waynesboro, VA) was the starting pitcher for the Caissons season opener when they hosted St. Anne’s Bellfield (StAB) on St. Patrick’s Day. With one out and senior Tyler Allen (Weyers Cave, VA) on first, Harris hit a home run to right field.

Waynesboro, VA – It’s official. The Fishburne Military School Raiders Team has earned an invitation from the United States Army Cadet Command’s 4th Brigade to compete once again for the title of “Best of the Best” (BoB). Of the 54 JROTC units in Virginia, only the top 6 programs earn a slot to compete for the title of “Best of the Best”.

The Caissons continued to impress throughout the day as their A-Team took 3rd place overall and their B-Team placed 5th overall in the field of 30 schools. The Fishburne Military School Raiders A-Team was commanded by Cadet Hunter Wren-Russ (Tehachapi, CA) and the B-Team was commanded by Cadet Jacob Randall (Stafford, VA).

Three times each school year the Fishburne Military School Caissons come together in Lawton Chapel to celebrate the successes of their athletic teams and to recognize individual efforts and achievements. Cadet Charles Fessler-Krebs ’17 (Annandale, VA) was presented with the Hogg Award.

Fishburne Military School’s Army JROTC Raiders A and B Teams made a strong showing on Saturday, competing at the Buckingham High School Invitational Raider Meet. The A team placed first in the Logistics Relay, second in the Tire Flip, and third place in the 5K Road March. The Fishburne Military School Raider A Team commander is C/LT Hunter Wren-Russ (Tehachapi, CA).

Fishburne Military School’s Winter Running Club completed their season this weekend by competing in Waynesboro’s 6th-annual Mad Anthony Mud Run. This year thirteen Caissons took on Mad Anthony and emerged victorious. Senior Doug Marsh (Middlebrook, VA) led the charge and finished the race 7th overall.
