We had a fantastic win this weekend and defeated Fork Union Military Academy on Saturday evening. I was very impressed by our energy level, confidence and fortitude to compete for forty minutes against a tough FUMA squad. Fork Union is well coached, disciplined and presented a tremendous challenge. We were fortunate to be able to make plays near the end or at the end to win the game on a last second shot. My hat is off to Coach Fletcher Arritt and FUMA. There were no losers in that game.

On a blustery and soggy Friday afternoon, the cross country team competed in the VISAA State Championship at Woodberry Forest School.
The race was on a rather treacherous and sloppy course due to all of the rain and mud, and several runners fell because of the slippery conditions. Colin Turnnidge earned all-state honors with a 19th-place finish (top 20 were all-state) in a time of 19:15.

Fishburne coach Ed Huckaby hopes his team got a wake up call on Monday afternoon during its inaugural home game.
Mack Academy scored five 3 pointers in the second half, taking advantage of the tired Fishburne defense, to ruin the Caissons’ ribbon-cutting ceremony with a 99-81 win.
“We have 30 games and there is no doubt in my mind that we will win 24 or 25 of them,” Huckaby said. “No question in my mind. We took a butt whooping and that got everyone’s attention.”
Both the Mack and Fishburne programs are in their infancies.
