Caissons Wrestling Puts Five on Podium at State Tourney
This was a wild tournament, with 11-time State Champions St. Chris and LCA in a battle for the top, while little FMS stayed steady in the top 10 ALL WEEKEND.

Southern Virginia hung close with Fishburne for a half, but the Caissons pulled away in the second 20 minutes to post a 95-68 win in Buena Vista on Saturday.

Tuesday marked the final regular season swim meet of the year, and my final dual-meet as Fishburne’s head swim coach. It was a great way to end my coaching career at FMS: crushing our rivals Massanutten for the third time this year and maintaining our undefeated record in our refurbished pool.

Round 1 went as well as it could have with every Caisson that stepped on the mat winning and sending all 14 wrestlers to the Semi Finals. This again was a great feat. I explained to them all that the key to a good team finish was to get a good start, not just with wins but with Pins to earn Bonus points for the team. I guess they understood that as just about every Caisson wrestler made short work of their opponents with several pins and Tech Falls building up a LOT of early Bonus points.

Queen City Prep led for the first 30 minutes, but a gritty effort from the Fishburne Military School ;postgrad basketball team allowed the Caissons to escape on Saturday with an 82-78 win.

After Wednesday’s 109-102 win over #3 Hargrave, it was understandable that #4 Fishburne might come out of the gates with a Hargrave hangover two nights later against a team that it had beaten by 39 points earlier in the season.

Fishburne Military School’s final regular season match took place last night as the Caisson Wrestlers traveled to Roanoke Catholic for a big VIC showdown to see who would finish in 2nd place in the regular season. The Caissons were also looking to win their 20th match of the season — a HUGE thing.
