Fishburne Baseball Tops EMHS
A five-run explosion in the second inning carried Fishburne Military School’s Baseball team to an 8-2 win in seven innings over Eastern Mennonite at Ridgeview Park on Tuesday.

The Fishburne Military School Caissons Baseball team traveled to Lynchburg yesterday to play its season opener against Holy Cross. The Caissons put together a great team effort to top the Gaels by a score of 18-1. Cadet Grant Miezis (Olney, MD) put in an outstanding performance, pitching all five innings and giving up only one hit.

The Fishburne Military School Caissons gathered last night in Lawton Chapel to celebrate the achievements of FMS’ winter athletics teams. MAJ Bryan Greene (VA), began the evening by thanking the coaching staff, athletes and those who came out in support of the teams, noting “the purpose of this banquet is to recognize those who stuck with their teams and refused to quit. The refusal to quit is a characteristic we should all respect.”

The team was told that if they wanted to qualify for the State Championship Tournament they had to finish in the top 4 spots in the VIC Championship Tournament. For the 3rd year in a row ALL 14 Wrestlers finished in the top 4 and have qualified for the VISAA State Championship Tournament.

Monday was Senior night for FMS Wrestling as the Caissons hit their stride and wrapped up the regular season with a record of 18-5. Next up the is VIC Championship Tournament, 14 February!

On Saturday, Fishburne Military School’s Daniel May ’15 (Stafford, VA) fought his way to the top in the Ed Cassell Classic wrestling tournament held at Virginia High School in Bristol, VA. May took home top honors in the tournament, earning the title “Most Outstanding Wrestler” for the event and sparking praise that would follow him all the way back to Waynesboro.
