Fishburne Military School Takes 2nd, Beats Hargrave
The Caissons wrestling team opened the 2015-16 season by besting every private school and two public high schools at the eight-team Cody Day Memorial Wrestling Tournament in Chatham, VA on Saturday. The tournament was hosted by Hargrave Military School. The Caissons sent four wrestlers to the final round, winning three championships at the end of the day.

To go along with their inaugural Patriot Military School Conference Championship, the Fishburne Caissons had eight players recieve all-state honors for VISAA Division II.

293 runners representing more than 30 teams competed in the Division 2 (schools with 160 or less HS males) on Friday at Fork Union.

The final, and most prestigious, award of the evening, The James G. Hogg Award, was presented to Cadet Min Chang Kang. The Hogg Award is presented three times per year to the cadet-athlete that best embodies the ideals of athletic and academic excellence.

Fishburne will finish 5th in the state this year, one spot out of the state tournament. Bishop Sullivan pulled the upset in dramatic fashion, defeating Norfolk Academy 48-22, to take the final spot.

Fishburne Military School senior Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed is a striking presence lining up at wideout on the football field, and he would strike fear in the hearts of opponents on the basketball court. But Sallah-Mohammed’s heart is in his feet.

Last Spring the Athletic Directors of Hargrave Military Academy, Fishburne Military School, Massanutten Military Academy, and Randolph-Macon Academy wanted to start a football conference for their military schools and the Patriot Military School Conference was born. The Caissons were able to sweep the conference’s first season after defeating Hargrave 42-0 at home on Friday afternoon.

The 0-2 start to the 2015 Fishburne Military School football season didn’t concern first-year head coach Chip Hill. The late start to training camp and the issues with weather limiting practice time put the Caissons behind schedule, and FMS opened with two opponents – Fuqua and Roanoke Catholic – that are expected to compete for state playoff bids.

Carlisle defended its recent number one ranking with a 7-0 win over the Caissons, giving the Caissons another loss in the very tough VIC Conference.
