Caissons team gets two wins in season-opening wrestling meet at RMA

The Fishburne wrestling team took to the mat for the first time this season on Thursday in Front Royal in a pair of dual meets with Randolph Macon Academy and Skyline High School.

Congratulations to the Caissons for coming out on top in both matchups – defeating RMA 48-36 and besting Skyline 48-34.

The victories were all the more impressive, Coach Richard Chiarolanzio said, because FMS didn’t field wrestlers in three weight classes, meaning the team essentially started each dual meet down 18-0 in points.

“When the night was over, one question was answered for sure, Young for sure, heart, a ton of it, a never-say-die outlook, and a team that pulls together,” Chiarolanzio said.

Highlights

  • Lenardson (10th grade) took to the mat in both matches and had two wins both by pin. Wrestled less then one full match with his two pins combined.
