Caissons Soccer Faces Tough VES Squad
Waynesboro, VA — The Fishburne Military School Varsity Soccer hosted Virginia Episcopal at Anderson Field under comfortable, overcast skies on a dry pitch Tuesday. The opponents struck three goals in the the 7th, 20th, and 31st minutes. Team Captain Bobby Palermo (Huntingtown, MD) reciprocated with three missed shots-on-goal to end the first–while Goalie Derek Prestes (Glen Allen, VA) saved seven nets. Altogether, the Caissons had 15 steals in the half.
The rain began a few minutes before the whistle. VES widened their lead by five additional goals in the 41st, 59th, 69th, 71st and 78th minutes. Palermo attempted two shots-on-goal–one ricocheting from the crossbar. Prestes saved an additional six before subbing with Connor Green (Virginia Beach, VA) in the 65th–Green would save two. The Caissons had three steals throughout the second while the rain steadily intensified. There was no stoppage.
Caissons (2-1-0) travel on Friday, September 15th, to play Covenant in Charlottesville for the postponed match that was affected by thunderstorms a week ago.

Fishburne Military School is the oldest and smallest of all military schools for boys in Virginia. Its college-prep curriculum is built on the structure of an Army JROTC program. FMS has been designated as a JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction and may nominate qualified candidates to the United States Service Academies. Fishburne hosts one of only four Summer JROTC programs in the nation that is accredited by US Army Cadet Command.
