AthleticsCaisson runners made big improvements in team average and personal times while adding 2 more local high schools to their vanquished list. A solid practice week made a local high school runner remark “I don’t know what you did this week, but you’re not the same team as last week.”
Avery Romp, in his first XC race, paced the Caissons with a time of 20:04 followed closely by Doug Marsh (20:35) and Evan LaQuaglia (20:46). Marsh shaved 48 seconds off his time from last Saturday and La Quaglia shaved an amazing 2:47 seconds as well as achieving a career PR. Logan Thorp and Logan Thaler rounded out the scoring five with times of 22:01 and 23:42 respectively. Thorp improved his 5K time by 1:33.
More importantly, the average time for the team declined from 23:08 to 21:25. That average bested VIC rival Eastern Mennonite’s time average but came up short of them in team points. The Caissons team points were good enough to best local high schools Buffalo Gap, Stuarts Draft and Page County.
This Saturday the Caissons travel to New Market Battlefield for the Stonewall Jackson Invitational. What better place to let our Caissons roll!
